St. Louis Start-Up Connection

30 Dec 2008

I recently got word that there is a start-up job fair in St. Louis on Wednesday, Jan. 21st. This is a great idea being hosted by a consortium of local organizations interested in supporting and promoting entrepreneurial activity in the area.

Working for a start-up is absolutely a fantastic way to learn and push yourself. I’ve worked for two startups and I can definitely say that I learned 10x as much during those experiences as I did it at the non-startup jobs. Obviously, there is a great deal more risk and this kind of environment is not for everyone. But if you’re looking for new challenges, this is a great way to do it.

For the last year, Jim Brasunas, of the IT Entrepreneur Network, has been searching for new IT start-ups in the area and helping to improve their odds of success. ITEN provides mentoring, elevator pitch events, mock angel funding reviews, and more. Jim has found over 70 local IT startups and so far 3 have been funded and one has been acquired with more on the way. These are the kinds of companies that will be looking for help at the Start-up Connection.

So, if you’re interested:
