Jonathan Schwartz, CEO of Sun posted some replies today to the comments about the Sun ticker symbol name change from SUNW to JAVA. Blah blah, who cares. I do own a small amount of Sun stock and it’s fun to see JAVA in my portfolio.

But more interesting, he included an email from James Gosling on how Java was named and the names that were rejected as well, which is fun to read. The first choice was Silk and James’s favorite was Lyric. Java was the 4th on the list but the first to pass muster from the lawyers.
