St. Louis holiday concert

04 Dec 2007

For those of you in St. Louis reading this blog, I’m a member of the Clayton Symphony Orchestra and we’ve got a fantastic holiday concert coming up this Sunday December 9th at 7 pm. The concert is at Clayton High School (the auditorium right in front) and tickets are $10 / adult, $5 / child.

As usual, we’ll be playing a selection of holiday favorites you know and love. We’re also doing some chamber music like one of the Bach Brandenburg concertos and a Vivaldi concerto for 2 trumpets.

In a more swinging vibe, renowned clarinetist Paul Wexler will be joining us to do Artie Shaw’s Concerto for Clarinet and he will blow your socks off! If you wanna check out Artie himself, here’s the clip of him doing it in the 1940 Fred Astaire movie Second Chorus.

Finally, local klezmer group Klezundheit (also featuring Paul) will be joining for us several pieces. I don’t know why, but I loves me some klezmer now and again.

In all, it’s going to be great concert and a great way to get in the holiday spirit, so check it out.
