It’s time again for my monthly music club mix. This month is a bit of indulgent power pop and just a smattering of stuff I’ve been digging on lately.
Song | Artist | Album | Comments |
---|---|---|---|
HFXNSHC | Sloan | Never Hear the End of It | A perfect pop-punk song from this popular Canadian group (who are almost unknown in the US). HFXNSHC = Halifx, Nova Scotia Hardcore :) |
Capital H | Motion City Soundtrack | I Am The Movie | Nothing deep, just some power pop |
Dance, Dance | Fall Out Boy | From Under the Cork Tree | and some more |
Lying Is The Most Fun A Girl Can Have Without Taking Her Clothes Off | Panic! at the Disco | A Fever You Can’t Sweat Out | and a little more |
Girlshapedlovedrug | Gomez | How We Operate | Can’t stop listening to this album lately |
Good Arms vs. Bad Arms | Frightened Rabbit | The Midnight Organ Fight | Another great album I can’t stop listening to |
Start A War | The National | Boxer | A favorite from last year |
He Came to Meet Me | Hem | Funnel Cloud | A quiet gem |
All I Am Is All You’re Not | Sloan | Parallel Play | Another from the latest Sloan album |
Hey Julie | Fountains of Wayne | Welcome Interstate Managers | Just a great pop tune |
Amsterdam | Guster | Keep It Together | |
Mr. Mastodon Farm | Cake | Motorcade of Generosity | A great old classic Cake tune. Went to Mastodon State Park a couple weekends ago and couldn’t get this out of my head. |
Definitely my favorite listens in the last month have been Gomez, Frightened Rabbit, and Sloan. All pretty different but that’s made for a good trio to bounce between.
