Stanley Ho announced today on the JSR 277 mailing list that he was leaving Sun and heading to RIM.
The JSR 277 spec will now be led by Alex Buckley, who has of course been involved with Java modularity for a long time through JSR 294. Stanley’s reign over JSR 277 has not been particularly smooth – he’s certainly rubbed some people (especially in the OSGi camp) the wrong way. But in recent months things seemed to be improving and maybe heading towards some tolerance if not consensus.
Maybe this change will ultimately be good for the spec and a change in perspective that will continue the seeming trend toward better days with OSGi.
Of course, all of this won’t make any difference if we don’t start making some progress towards Java SE 7. :)
